# myDocs > myDocs (mydocs.cloud) is a personal document vault. It keeps passports, ID cards, driving licences, insurance policies, certificates, warranties and receipts in one place, reminds you before they expire, scans paper documents with a phone or computer, and encrypts the sensitive ones on your own device so that nobody else, including myDocs, can read them. - Website: https://mydocs.cloud/ (English), /de/, /fr/, /ua/ (Ukrainian), /ru/ - Web app: https://app.mydocs.cloud/ (works in any modern browser on computers and phones, can be installed as an app) - Native app for iPhone, iPad and Mac: coming to the App Store soon (the current App Store listing still shows the previous generation of the app) - Privacy policy: https://mydocs.cloud/privacy-policy - Contact: support@mydocs.cloud - Price: free to use, with a storage quota per account (currently 5 GB). No ads, no analytics or tracking. - App languages: English, German, French, Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic ## Who it is for People and families who want their important papers organised, available on every device and safe: travellers, expats and migrants who juggle documents from several countries, parents who keep the whole family's papers, anyone who has ever missed a passport, licence or insurance renewal. ## What you can do ### Store and organise documents - Create a document with a name, type, number, issuing authority, country, issue and expiry dates, notes and tags. - Attach any number of files: photos (JPEG, PNG, WebP), PDF (including qualified-signature PDFs, which show the signer and date), and download-only office files (DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, ODT, ODS, ODP, TXT, CSV) up to 50 MB each. - Group documents into coloured folders, add tags, search by name, number or notes, archive what you no longer need. - Thumbnails and multi-page previews for photos and PDFs; a full-screen viewer with zoom. ### Expiry reminders - Each document can have two reminders before it expires (for example 30 days and 7 days before). - Reminders arrive by email and as push notifications on your devices. - An "Expiring soon" list at the top of the app shows what needs attention, and every card shows how many days are left. ### Document scanner - Take a photo of a document lying on a table. The scanner detects the page edges, straightens perspective, flattens curved pages, evens out lighting and cleans up contrast for print. - Corners, tilt and rotation can be adjusted by hand with a magnifier. - Text recognition (OCR) runs on your device with no third-party service. The recognised text makes documents searchable and can be selected and copied. For encrypted documents the recognised text is encrypted too. ### End-to-end encryption - Any document can be marked as encrypted. Its files, number, issuing authority, notes and recognised text are encrypted in the browser or app before upload, with AES-256-GCM. - The data key never leaves your devices in readable form. It is protected by your secret key (stretched with Argon2id), by a printable master key for recovery, and optionally by passkeys that support the WebAuthn PRF extension (Face ID, Touch ID and similar). - myDocs stores only ciphertext and cannot open encrypted documents, even if asked to. If both the secret key and the master key are lost and no passkey was set up, encrypted documents cannot be recovered by anyone. - Each file has its own key and every 64 KB block is authenticated, so files cannot be swapped between documents, reordered or truncated without detection. - Name, type, country, dates, folder and tags of an encrypted document stay readable to the server so that lists, search and reminders keep working. - Fields of non-encrypted documents (number, issuing authority, notes, recognised text) are encrypted at rest on the server. ### Sign-in and account security - Sign in with email and password, passkeys, Google or Apple. - Passwords are stored as Argon2id hashes; short-lived access tokens and HttpOnly refresh cookies; rate limiting on sign-in. - An email (and optional push) for every sign-in from a new device, with approximate location. - A list of active sessions that can be signed out individually or all at once. - Sensitive actions (removing a passkey, changing keys, deleting the account) ask you to confirm your identity again. ### Sharing - Share one document as a link, without giving access to your account. - Protection: link only, link plus PIN, or link plus password. For encrypted documents, and in password mode, the recipient gets a separately encrypted copy whose key is part of the link and never reaches the server. - The link expires after 1 hour, 3 hours, 1 day, 3 days or 7 days; ten wrong PINs destroy it. - Optional email when someone opens the link (with their approximate location and device); links can be revoked at any time. - A document can also be sent by email. ### Offline, backup and export - Offline mode per device: documents and files stay available without internet; encrypted documents stay encrypted on the device. - Optional nightly backup to your own Google Drive (myDocs only accesses files it created there). Encrypted documents stay encrypted in the backup. - Export everything as a ZIP at any time; restore from a backup file. ### Apps and interface - Web app that adapts to phone, tablet and desktop screens; can be installed to the home screen. - Native SwiftUI app for iPhone, iPad and Mac (coming soon) with Face ID / Touch ID, document scanner and offline storage. - Light and dark themes that follow the device or can be chosen in settings. ## Frequently asked questions **Is myDocs free?** Yes, with a storage quota per account (currently 5 GB). There are no ads and no tracking. **Can myDocs staff read my documents?** Not encrypted ones: they are encrypted on your device and myDocs never has the key. Other documents are protected by HTTPS and server-side encryption of their text fields; files of non-encrypted documents are stored as uploaded. **What happens if I forget my secret key?** Use the master key you printed or saved as PDF when you set up encryption, or a passkey (Face ID / Touch ID) if you added one. If all of these are lost, encrypted documents cannot be recovered. **Where is my data stored?** On myDocs servers, and optionally on your own Google Drive (backups) and on devices where you turned on offline mode. **Can I delete my account?** Yes, in Settings → Danger zone. Sign-in stops immediately; data is removed after 30 days. **Does it work without internet?** Yes, on devices where offline mode is turned on. **Which documents can I store?** Any: passports, ID cards, residence permits, visas, driving licences, vehicle papers, insurance policies, medical and vaccination records, diplomas, contracts, warranties, receipts.
